Registering for a Cudy account is fast and easy.

  3. Click “submit”

A verification email will be sent to you to confirm your registration.

If you are a parent helping your child to choose classes for him/her, please create a “student” account with your child’s information. Payment information should be the parent’s information if the parent is making the payment on behalf of the child – this information will be filled upon making payment after a trial lesson.

Cudy is currently focused on serving Singapore students and the Singapore education system’s syllabus. However, we do not restrict tutors or students whom are located in other parts of Southeast Asia to register and have online virtual classes. Do note that as our focus is on online synchronous lessons (live-streamed and real-time), there might be timezone issues for users located in different timezones of the world.

We will be expanding across countries in Southeast Asia very soon to cater to other markets in the region.

To change the information in your Cudy account, log in to your account, go to Dashboard, on the side panel, select Settings. In the settings page, you would be able to make changes to your profile and account details.

Virtual Lessons

Using the latest technologies, Cudy uses a customised web-based virtual classroom which is integrated into the Cudy platform. What that means for tutors and students is that they do not need to download any desktop applications in order to connect into the class. Tutors and students would be able to attend live online lessons within the Cudy platform.

Both tutors and students would be able to see each other’s webcamera feed and hear each other’s voice live during lessons. Students would be able to interact with other students in the same lesson through voice or the in-class chat system.

Tutors would also be able to use screensharing and digital whiteboards to maximise the learning experience for students.

Our virtual classrooms are designed to facilitate a conducive online learning experience that not only benefits students, but also benefits tutors by making it easy to control. The customised design of our virtual classrooms ensures that the bandwidth usage is minimal and optimal for smooth connection online.

Yes, Cudy focuses on synchronous classroom learning as we believe that it is important in a child’s learning experience. As with a mentor or tutor whom is able to guide and answer them in real-time, the child would be able to learn and focus better, and have their questions answered instantly by a subject specialist.

Soon, we will also be launching coursewares that allows students to adopt self-directed learning to learn at their own time and pace online. These coursewares will focus on asynchronous and pre-recorded/uploaded content from tutors which students can purchase.

Tutors and students will be able to use their voice, along with their video feed from their webcamera, to communicate with each other. There is also an in-class chat allowing them to type and ask questions.

We believe that students are adept at learning from online sources from a young age in our information and digital age. The learning experience online does not reduce the effectiveness of the lesson as the technology facilitates face-to-face learning. We believe that the effectiveness stems from the tutor hence we are dedicated in helping students find a suitable tutor on our platform with our dynamic rating and review system and “Recommended Classes” feature for students to get accurate matches with a percentage matching score system. Our mission at Cudy is devoted to creating new technologies and services for all of our tutors and students to bridge the perceived gap between online and offline learning.

We are in the midst of launching workshops for tutors so that they will be familiar with the online learning system. We aim to raise the quality of all tutors by helping them improve on their pedagogy and their subject expertise. We have partnered with various training providers for educators to bring these workshops to tutors.

We have also created a community for tutors, that aims to help tutors – for tutors, by tutors. You do not need to be a tutor with Cudy to join the group for free.

We focus on bringing in the best tutors in the tuition market. We provide transparency to students and parents making a decision with the tutors’ public profile, as well as a trial lesson to further provide the student with a deeper assessment of the suitability of the tutor. Additionally, we have a rating and review system that allow students to give ratings, as well as the options to upvote or downvate the tutor so as to complement our robust evaluation systems.

We are partnering with various renowned tuition centres and specialized tutors (a.k.a star tutors) to integrate our online virtual classrooms into their physical classes, which allows online students to attend their usually filled classes.

We are committed to raising the quality of all our tutors on our platform. As such, we would be providing workshops for them to attend so that they can improve on their teaching and communication skills, as well as subject expertise. We also have a community of tutors that focuses on helping each other improve.

Payments

There is a small service fee of 16% per class, excluding taxes (if applicable – please see “Taxes” in FAQ). This service fee is levied on the tutor when he/she requests a payout at the end of the class once there is at least one student who has enrolled and made payment for the class.

Students or parents making payments through the Credit Card method will also incur a 3.4% transaction fee to Xfers. For payments made via bank transfer through Xfers, no additional fee is charged.

All classes are listed in SGD Dollars.

The booking and payment process is made simple with Cudy. All bookings and payments are done through the platform. Once the student has attended a trial lesson and decides to make a payment to enrol for the class, the student or parent would need to make a payment in order to reserve a spot in the class.

They are a Singapore-based e-payment company that handles over SGD$50 million in transactions with over 20,000 users. Trial lessons: Students or parents would not be able to cancel a trial session. If a student is reported by tutors to frequently not show up for trial lessons, he/she may be barred from further trial lessons on the platform.

Paid lessons: If a student makes a payment and is unable to attend any lesson he/she has paid for under any circumstances, he/she would not be able to cancel or request for a change in timing. No refunds for missed lessons will be provided to the student. If the tutor requests for a cancellation, change in timing or was absent, the student will be refunded the amount that he/she has paid for the lesson.

There are no additional fees other than our service fee for normal usage of the platform. Tutors will have the option to opt in for value-added services which would incur additional fees if they want to use them.

A student has to log in to Cudy and make a trial booking by selecting a class card and clicking on “Trial Class”, which will lead the student to a booking page. Once the booking has been confirmed, the student has successfully registered for a trial class. Additionally, the student would be able to see announcements and the class schedule on his/her Dashboard. To attend the class, simply access the Dashboard and click “Attend Class” when it is time for lesson.

Notify us immediately via the feedback form (Dashboard > Feedback) if the tutor is absent (for students) or if the student is absent for trial lesson (for tutors). We will take appropriate action.

At the checkout page upon making payment, enter a valid promotional code. If an invalid promotional code is applied, you will receive a notification on the page.

Once a single student has enrolled for a class and made payment, the tutor would be required to complete all the lessons in the class that the student has paid for before requesting for a payout.

If there is no dispute filed by the student (e.g. Absent tutor) or any other student in the class, the tutor will be able to request for a payout for that class in his/her Dashboard. The payout will be credited directly to the tutors’ bank account and a receipt will be generated under “View Payout History” in the Dashboard.

Go to Dashboard > Manage Classes > Completed Classes > Request Payout once you have completed a class.

Cudy processes all payout requests on every 15th day and on the last day of the month (two times a month).

You will have to submit a payout request before the 14th day at 11.59pm and the day prior to the last day of the month at 11.59pm

If a tutor submits request on/after the 15th day and the last day of the month, they will have to wait till the upcoming 15th or the last day of the month, whichever is earlier, for the payout request to be processed.

Once the payout request has been processed by Cudy, it will take approximately 5 days for the payout amount to be transferred to your bank account.

Features and Services

The ratings and reviews system is for students to give constructive feedback and share their opinions with other students about the class or the tutor. This helps to facilitate a more efficient and dynamic marketplace for tuition services. Students will be able to easily give ratings and reviews right after they have attended a lesson and amend their ratings and/or reviews at any point in time after.

Students will also be able to upvote or downvote other students’ reviews by clicking the up or down arrows, or flag certain reviews if they deem it inappropriate. Students will be provided a rubric to provide fair ratings and reviews. Ratings and reviews that do not follow the rubric provided may be taken down when a tutor sends us an appeal.

The team at Cudy aims to ensure that only fair ratings and reviews are given, and that the system is not abused or misused. Our team will review appeals made by tutors if the rating or review is perceived to be unfair. We will refer to the rating and review rubrics that are provided to both tutors and students to make a judgement if the rating or review should be taken down. Our team will enforce the fair usage of the rating and review system to protect the interests of both tutors and students.

Users will be informed if their rating or review is inappropriate and determine if they are required to make certain changes to their rating or review or may be subjected to removal by the administrator.

At the moment, only tutors are given a public profile to make it easy for students and parents to find them on the platform.

If you are a student or a parent that is not logged in to Cudy, you would not be granted permission to view any tutors’ public profile. You must first register and log in before you are able to view tutors’ public profile. This is to ensure that all users consent to our terms of use on our platform to protect tutors’ displayed profile information.

However, tutors will not be able to view other tutors’ public profiles, and hence will not have a link to other tutors’ public profiles that students or parents are able to view.

Tutor Analytics is a free tool for tutors to use to help them keep track of useful student data such as their class bookings and profile interactions (e.g. conversion rates, potential earnings, current earnings) to help them understand their students better and to make improvements on how they market themselves and strategise on how they can get more students to enrol in their classes.

There are three classifications of tutors on Cudy: independent tutors, specialized tutors and contracted tutors (tuition centre).

Our tutors cover almost every academic subject on Cudy. If you cannot find the subject that you are looking for, let us know! Our team will assist you in finding a suitable class.

The question should be: “What do I prefer?”

It depends on what a student prefers or is comfortable with. We allow all tutors to decide on the size of their classes from one to fifty students per lesson.

On Cudy, we support both personalised and group lessons.

As a tutor, you can easily start listing classes anytime! Simply log in as a tutor, go to your Dashboard, and select “New Class” and fill up the form and voila, your class is listed.

Tutors will be able to renew their class term easily if they are continuing the same class with the same batch of students, once they have finished their first 4 or 8 lessons with the auto-renew class feature.

Tutors will receive an email notification to let them know that a new student has booked a trial or has enrolled in the class. The lesson capacity under the tutor’s listing will also be updated and filled accordingly. 

Tutors can also check their listings in their Dashboard under Managed Classes and Tutor Analytics.

Tutors are not able to delete the classes that they have listed. Please contact us at support@cudy.co if you wish to delete a listed class and we will process it for you.

All tutors who sign up will receive a Tutors’ manual providing all the information that tutors would find useful when using Cudy. Tutors can get access to it by signing up and it will be sent to your registered email. Do make sure to check your spam inbox.

We are still developing a manual for students and we hope to get it into the hands of students soon!

Security

It is required so that we are able to verify that only one account is created per user. It also helps us to verify the identity of the tutor or student to ensure that he/she is legitimate and to minimise the risk of identity fraud, so that our users can trust that the tutors and students are using their real identity.

We are committed to maintaining the security of all personal information. We have put in place appropriate security procedures, and technical and organisational measures to safeguard your personal information to prevent loss, misapplication, unauthorised access or disclosure of information.

We also restrict access to information about you to Cudy employees who require the information in order to respond to your inquiries and requests. Employees who misuse your information will subject to strict disciplinary actions.

One of the most important focus of Cudy is to create a trusted environment where potential customers feel confident in making purchases. SSL certificates create a foundation of trust by establishing a secure connection. To ensure visitors that their connection is secure, browsers provide visual cues, such as a lock icon or a green bar found in the URL address bar.

All information being sent especially sensitive information (e.g. identification number, contact number, payment details, etc) are secured and encrypted, and any data you enter is safely shared with Cudy.

SSL certificates have a key pair: a public and a private key. These keys work together to establish an encrypted connection. The certificate also contains what is called the “subject,” which is the identity of the certificate/website owner (Cudy Pte. Ltd.). The most important part of an SSL certificate is that it is digitally signed by a trusted CA, like Comodo.

Cudy is compliant with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA). The PDPA establishes a data protection law that comprises of various rules governing the collection, use, disclosure and care of personal data. It recognises both the rights of individuals to protect their personal data, including rights of access and correction, and the needs of organisations to collect, use or disclose personal data for legitimate and reasonable purposes.

We also have an appointed Data Protection Officer (DPO), registered with the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) of Singapore. The DPO is responsible to ensure that Cudy is compliant to the PDPA when developing and implementing policies and processes for handling your personal data and to manage personal data protection related queries and complaints.

Technical

Students do not need any additional hardware other than their laptops/desktop with a microphone and a webcamera. Similarly, for tutors, they do not need any additional hardware. However, to add value to the class, tutors may consider investing in better quality webcameras and microphones, as well as a touchscreen laptop/desktop screen or a digital drawing pad for them to utilize applications that involves drawing or whiteboard features.

Tutors can download the tutor handbook which will provide you with all the necessary information and recommended hardwares.

Soon, we will be launching a mobile application packed with features and interactive tools for students and tutors to utilize. 

Basic and stable internet connection is required during online classes on Cudy. However, our virtual classrooms are designed in a smart way that mitigates the risk of disconnection or performance issues during live online lessons. Our system will be able to reconnect tutors and students during a lesson provided that they do not refresh the page.

You might experience interference and latency during the lesson. Please ensure that you have a stable internet connection before connecting to a lesson.

We currently only support Chrome and Firefox browsers.
